Why do I have to sign the back of my check?
If your check is returned from the bank, it will be sent to CheckAGAIN. CheckAGAIN will electronically represent your check, along with a state service fee. Your signature provides the required authorization to process these transactions and lets CheckAGAIN help you easily and conveniently resolve the returned check.
But my check is good! Why should I sign anything?
If there are enough funds in your account, the bank will process the check as usual. You should call your bank if you have any questions about the regular processing of your checks.
I may have written a returned check to a store last week. Can I pay the check at the store where I wrote it to clear it up?
There is no need to make an in-person payment on a returned check, because CheckAGAIN automatically processes returned checks from stores using its services. Stores do not collect payments directly because CheckAGAIN may have already recovered the funds electronically from your bank account and does not want to charge you twice.
How much will I be charged if I write a bad check?
Each state allows a certain dollar amount service fee to be charged if a consumer writes a bad check to a merchant. Click here for a list of states and the allowable amount that can be charged.
How do I revoke my authorization?
To revoke your authorization and transfer your service fee recovery to a collection agency, call CheckAGAIN at 1-800-666-5222. However, if your check has already been returned and CheckAGAIN has processed it, you will be required to pay the state service fee (link to state fees).
