What is Check Authorization?
Check Authorization (also called Check Verification) occurs when a check is reviewed against a
database of check writers who have bounced checks at other businesses. CheckAGAIN offers
you access to the nation's most powerful negative check databases, including
SCANSM (Shared Check Authorization NetworkSM)
and NCN (National Check Network)®.
What are Centralized Returns?
Centralized Returns (also called Consolidated Returns) allows you to consolidate returned checks from multiple locations into one
bank, even if multiple depository banks are being used. This reduces bank fees on NSF checks
by eliminating automatic redeposits to the depository bank. Centralized Returns also lets you
know quickly when a check has been returned a critical factor in helping collect NSF
checks.
What is Electronic Representment?
Electronic Representment (RCK) recovers funds from returned checks by submitting the check
electronically to the check writer's bank account. Electronic Representment will give you
faster bad check recovery, resulting in 20 to 30% higher recovery rates and lower bank
fees.
Does CheckAGAIN recover all bad checks, or just NSF checks (returned for insufficient
funds)?
CheckAGAIN attempts to recover all returned checks. NSF checks are recovered through
electronic representment. Closed account checks are sent directly to our specialty collection
agency partners. Stop Payment checks and Refer to Maker checks are forwarded to the merchant
for additional information, or sent to a traditional collection agency to resolve the dispute.
Checks returned for other reasons are manually reviewed to decide which recovery method is
applicable.
Does my business have to use all of CheckAGAIN's services together, or can we pick and
choose among them?
Though CheckAGAIN's check management and check recovery services are designed to work together,
each can be used as a stand-alone application. CheckAGAIN can create customized solutions for
your specific business needs. Additionally, each service can easily integrate into your
business's existing infrastructure.
What type of bad check reporting does CheckAGAIN offer?
CheckAGAIN offers a secure electronic reporting website to access your returned item reports.
This password-protected website gives access to detailed, customizable check information.
Account information can be sorted and viewed by specific criteria, including dates,
regions, stores, amounts and more. There are also reports that help detect internal fraud and
check acceptance problems. All data can be exported for reconciliation reporting.
What if we do not have access to the Internet?
CheckAGAIN can fax or mail monthly account statements directly to you if you do not have
Internet access. For an additional fee, merchants may receive images of all or specific NSF
checks, weekly statements, or daily account statements.
How does CheckAGAIN help my customers?
CheckAGAIN is the "customer-friendly" solution to NSF checks. CheckAGAIN recognizes that
everybody can make a mistake. Our electronic system recovers returned checks quickly and
efficiently. There is no need for a customer to make an in-person re-payment. CheckAGAIN also
offers a friendly customer service team that consumers can call toll-free.
How do we make our customers aware of our new check acceptance policy?
Once you sign on with CheckAGAIN, we will give you attractive, easy-to-read check returned
check policy signs for all of your locations. These signs ensure that the customer understands
the check acceptance policy at the point of sale. We also provide tear-off receipts for
customers that explain the check recovery procedure and give our toll-free number for
questions.
Can I use my existing collection agency with the CheckAGAIN system?
CheckAGAIN partners with several agencies, but you may also choose your own collection agency
instead. CheckAGAIN can also work with your internal collections department. Your agency must
be able to access the Internet or send and receive electronic text files to comply with our
requirements.
